Preoperative information

Test OXYCONTIN 10

On a Sunday or a free day well in advance of your surgery.
Do not drive or make any important decisions after taking the medication.
Possible side effects (symptoms in decreasing order of frequency): nausea, vomiting, sedation, dizziness, hallucinations, respiratory arrest (respiratory arrest is very, very, very rare, impossible at this dose)
Ask for the anesthesiologist in case of intolerance during the test at 02 221 91 11 and ask for the extension 17840, or ask the anesthesiologist on duty.

Day 0

Starting at Midnight: fasting for solid food
Until 5:30 am: Drink water / sweet tea (without milk or lemon)
At 6:00 am: take 1 co of paracetamol 1g + 1 co OxyContin 10 mg
To take with you to the hospital: 1 co of OxyContin 10 mg

Day 1

Paracetamol 1g / 6 hours
Vimovo / 12 hours
OxyContin 10 mg / 12 hours
OxyNorm 5mg max / 4h, if persistent pain
Caution: Take your painkillers on time as prescribed. It is better to prevent pain from getting really heavy than having to treat it when it’s already bad.
Ideally you shouldn’t take different drugs together unless the pain is too great.
Call of the anesthetist in the morning, around 10:00 am

Day 2

Paracetamol 1g / 6 hours
Vimovo / 12 hours
OxyContin 10 mg / 12 hours (stop if pain bearable)
OxyNorm 5mg max / 4h, if persistent pain
